The Best Cleanse?

I've wanted to do a good detox cleanse for a good year and a half now but last time I tried, I made it literally HOURS before I had to eat real food.

I have always had trouble gaining and keeping weight on -- I'm 5'8", 125lbs -- and though I've never been tested, there's a good chance I am hypoglycemic.

I try to eat as healthy as I can, but sometimes I have to grab the junkfood quickly because my energy levels tend to plummet without much notice, making it imperitive that I eat ASAP.

I was drinking a lot of water really regularly there for a while, but I fell out of it for some time. This week, though, I've started drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water and I already feel a difference. I'm not vegetarian but I do tend to stay away from red meats and pork, I just don't like them much. I love poultry and fish and lately have been trying to eat a lot of salads, I crave them! :) I love starches! I can make a meal out of a couple baked potatos, heh.

I was sick for over a month recently, not with any one thing, but my immune system was so deficient that I would barely get over a virus and immediately have something else. Almost directly after finally kicking all that, I got both a bladder infection (which keeps sneaking back, sorta) AND a yeast infection. Incredibly annoying, yes, and a little worrisome because I'd NEVER had either before.

But because of the yeast infection I'm worried about consuming starches. I've cut a lot of sugar from my diet but I sort of crave it. As far as I understand, candida infections can make you crave sugar. So, ew.

I'd like to focus a detox (or several, if I have to) on a few areas then:
- liver (my mother had a lot of liver difficulties when she was my age)
- blood
- candida
- probably kidney
and a good skin detox too, I've been breaking out often but that could have a great deal to do with my being sick for a month

I'd appreciate any suggestions or advice any of you might have for programs. I was going to try the Master Cleanse (my bestfriend had good luck with it) but I read not too long ago that it can exacerbate some conditions. I enjoy teas and I like eating healthy, so that still leaves a lot open. I have supplements (herbal, mineral, the works) that I should be taking but because I have gotten back into a breakfast-eating routine, I keep forgetting.

Thank you all.

    Amy,
I'm sorry to hear you're suffering like that! That sucks! Just know it's totally reversable. Our bodies are infinitly capable of healing.

I to have to eat all of the time. If too long goes by, I turn into what one of my friends calls a "surely fish." Meaning, I get crabby. Because of that, I was worried about doing the master cleanse, but I woke up last Sunday morning and felt I just had to do it. So, I'm on day 5. Or 4, technically (I ate a couple of things the first day, on advice from a friend who recently did it.)

First, I was nervous too about doing it, but found that as long as I made sure to have PLENTY of the lemon mixture ("nectar" :) around, I'm fine. I go for hikes and everything with no problems, no significant drop in energy. The first two days were the most challenging.

Second, while a cleanse is going to help you, it sounds like you need a more stable, consistent intake of nutrient dense foods. I'd recommend blue-green algae (I'm a distributor, so you can get it through me), but look around and try things out and see what appeals to you and feels good in your body.

Third, what ever it is you eat, just remember that you want to consume things that FEEL GOOD. If your body has to work hard to neutralize offensive items, not only are you adding garbage to your biology but you're having to use energy to divert it. If you eat nutrient dense food, like algae and bee pollen and kale and broccoli and unpasturized cultured foods, you're going to feel a LOT better.

    f.c.

Oh! please explain... how is this good for us?

cultured foods.... okay, pasturization kills some bacteria... is this good bacteria that we want?

and the algae... tell us more.... doesn't seem like something natural to a humans diet, does it?

      bee pollen? huh?

      kale?

Algae? Why not? It's a plant. Kale is a plant food that is found in the grocery store, like Safeway.

but what does algae have that we can't get from something else... I mean, not that I'm opposed to Algae, just what properties does it have? what do people like about the algae?

Off the top of my head, if I remember right, any veggies that are the deep green color are really rich in anti-oxidants and vitamins/minerals. Or something like that, heh.

I don't remember why bee pollen is so good though.

get your sugar tested before you think about doing anything.
with eating junk food/processed carbs all the time you are going to get that carb crash. if you drink caffine it will be even worse.

you mentioned being sick for a month, yeast problems and uti's.
i strongly suggest that you go and get a full std screen including aids. and just because you had sex protected or not with a bunch of people doesnt mean anything. viruses and diseases dont select you based on morals. they select you because you are there.

I recommend the liver cleanse posted at this website:

    www.curezone.com/cleanse/liver/

I do it when I notice my skin breaking out, approximately every 6-8 weeks. It's also helped clear up my eczema and back pain. It only lasts about 2 days so it's easy to do, and involves drinking lots of apple juice, fasting for about 1/2 day and then drinking epsom salt solution followed by an olive oil/lemon juice mixture.

It's also recommend to do an herbal kidney cleanse for 2 weeks before you do the liver cleanse. I live in the Bay Area and get my herbs at Lhasa Karnak but any decent co-op should have them.

here's the link for the kidney cleanse:

I think a juice fast would be perfect for you. You can easily keep your blood sugar levels under control with it, and focus on juices that give you the benefits you are looking for.

See my previous threads on how I do it. Drinking a glassful of flax seeds might every day might be beneficial for you too, even when you're not fasting.
