Hi. I wonder if anyone has an opinion on this. I tried the salt water and it was very harsh I think coffee works better. So the question is - what do you think of using coffee while cleansing or right after? Do you think it could be any more unhealthy than salt water for the body? It certainly tastes better :)

I would warn against coffee.
Coffee will dehydrate you, which is a big danger while fasting. Saline water will just swish right through you without pulling as much hydration out of your system.
Furthermore, coffee is full of chemicals used during growing and processing, so it would only add more toxins to your system, defeating the purpose of cleansing.
Just curious, how long was your salt water fast, and was that the only thing you drank?
I ask because there are zillions of methods out there and I suppose they all have different effects.
Personally, I don't see the point of drinking salt water. It's vile tasting and i think results can be just as easily achieved by tastier methods. :)

Wed, March 16, 2005 - 3:41 PMcoffee can be harsh.
it also causes a drop in your bloodsugar so you might eat more than you need coming off a fast.
try senna tea:
www.senna-tea.com/
-tastes ok (only have to drink a tea cup size 4-6oz)
-caffine free
-sweeten with maple syrup (avoid grade A(little vitamins) or maple trees tapped with formadelhyde pellest..go organic)
-senna tea takes 6-12 hours to get things moving.
-i went for 100% senna which i reacted to in 4 hours. at least 50% senna in tea blend is reccomended.
-i felt the chills when it starting working. bonus is that it was harsh and/or uncontrolable to the point of where you felt like you have to live on the bowl.
i reccomend to drink alot of water when you start getting the chills. it seemed to make everything feel less wierd and get it over with faster. -

Wed, March 16, 2005 - 4:35 PMFYI - My colonic lady believes that salt water internal bathing is bad. She claims it is toxic, and gives you the runs. "It's too harsh and we don't want to do anything that gives us raging diarrhea." But then again, there are so many different schools of thought on cleansing...the hygenists, the Dr. Schultz's, the Arise and Shine, the Master Cleanse, the Hydrotherapists...coffee enemas, wheatgrass enemas, the list goes on and on...I just wanted to share with you what I'd "heard." I did a few of them, and felt better immediately...there was just some nastiness that wanted to leave my body...I don't know about doing it continually...that could be harmful, but I would say see how you feel and what your intuition tells you.
