Any thoughts about colonics during fasting? For me, it's been a great way to help my body remove all those toxins that are released during the fasting process, instead of reabsorbing them.

Wed, December 31, 2003 - 12:53 PMI've considered it, but I don't know enough about it. Do you have any links or articles that could shed more light on this option? -

Mon, January 5, 2004 - 11:10 AMYou might check out some of the links in the ad space to the right of these posts - I haven't looked at any of them but I assume they'll have some basic info.
This site (no affiliation, I just stumbled across it) has some info about colonic hydrotherapy: www.sheilas.com/colonintro.html

Although it's not something I talk about readily (ah, the protection of the internet!)...I have done colonics during fasts.
From what I understand, a drastic reduction im food volume and calories intiates detoxification in the body. Chemicals we eat are given a chance for removal. However, before the toxins are excreted, they can 'recirculate' from the colon, via the blood...which is why when you clease (fast) too quickly, you can feel so crappy. You're reexperiencing that junk in your system.
Multiple, sequential colonics aid the body by removing all the toxins from the colon. IME, it has helped a great deal during those times of extremely strong 'cleansing reactions.'
George:
Rich Anderson talks about colonics in his books on cleansing... but I still wish he expressed himself a bit more scientifically. He refers to a Dr. Bernard Jensen... he might be better.

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Thu, January 22, 2004 - 1:14 PMAnyway, I'm thinking about trying the Master Cleanse because it offers a less invasive method. You drink warm salt water, which reportedly has quite a powerful result (details omitted for the squeamish!). Sounds easier and definitely cheaper than paying a colonic hydrotherapist.
Side note on squeamishness: My first two fasting experiences were at "spas", and included daily colonics. The other guests and I would talk daily about our experiences. It almost got competitive! After a while you forget that in normal life people don't talk about their bowel moments with great interest and detail. :) Sorry if I get/have been too graphic.

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Fri, January 30, 2004 - 2:04 PMI have done quarterly cleanses, sometimes juicing for a few weeks or doing raw foods...colonics are the bomb and cheaper when you buy 10 sessions, you can usually get a free-bie, but they are so worth it...I feel like it's the fountain of youth, but do remember to go and replace your friendly bacteria with either wheatgrass enemas or lactobacili/bifidi/pro-biotics after your cleanse...it's important. Also, when coming off a cleanse, make sure you eat lightly, or you'll be sorry. -

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Wed, February 18, 2004 - 5:29 PMhi guys... these posts have reminded me of a time when I did an anti-candida cleansing diet ... at a certain stage of the diet, my bowel activity was very frequent and very liquid (refer Lauren and Emma's earlier comments on bowel movement conversations and the anonymity of the Net!) I needed VERY close access to a toilet. I was working in an office where I had to go downstairs to get to the toilet and a couple of times I was so close to not getting there in time that it wasn't funny.... :) Oh dear!

Mon, March 8, 2004 - 4:13 PMJust remember to replace the friendly bacteria after a colonic...pro-biotics or lactobacili, bifidi...otherwise you could run into major problems...it's very important for the intestinal flora...look up more info on the web about this...or ask your colonic practicioner...I think they are awesome! -

Wed, June 30, 2004 - 4:45 PMIf you live in the West San Fernando Valley, I can recommend someone for Colonics in Tarzana. If I recommend three people I get a free one :) Just hit me up here, and I'd be glad to pass on a name and number and testimonials.

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Sun, July 11, 2004 - 6:15 PMHey Lauren
I live in Oakland as well and I've been thinking about getting a colonic. I was wondering if you could tell me who you go to? I don't really know where to begin...

Wed, March 16, 2005 - 5:10 PMwww.i-act.org/
www.colonhealth.net/#
Try these two websites...they are recommended by my Colonic Lady Linda for referrals for other people in other parts of the country...
Here is a lot of info for FAQ's...this is where I go in LA...
www.venturacenter4healing.com/col...s.htm
If you go, tell them Tiffany referred ya :)
They cost anywhere from $55-$70
You should see about getting a discount for pre-purchasing multiple ones. I get buy 10 get 1 free...then I do a little trade to save a little...
You should see if you can get a 3-pack, as having 3 close together (2-3 days apart) produces optimal results...if this all seems way too expensive you can look into a colema board, which is a DIY method...
www.colema-boards.com/
Reports on this method vary...I've never tried it myself...
Here's where I first got turned on to Colonics in NYC:

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Wed, March 16, 2005 - 5:14 PMAlso, the last one I got she told me that she had Dr. Bernard Jenson on her table once...he said had he known there was such a gentle method for cleansing the colon he would have recommended it in all his books, unfortunately he died before he could revise a new addition to include that. The colonics that everyone rages about are so harmful are the ones that use pressurized hoses, rather than gravity...I will be doing them only around fasting/cleansing...one in the beginning, middle and end, about a week or less apart. That's about 6 to 9 a year. -

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Sun, March 20, 2005 - 8:32 PMi did a hydro-colonic after 28 days of MC (master cleanse) just to make sure all the crap thats accumulated in a year got flushed out... to my surprise, the "facilitator" was amazed how "clean" my insides were... oh well
seemed like 28 days on the MC pretty much scoured out my intestine to prestine condition... so, no need to do a colonics if youve done 20+ days of MC
however, i would recommend a colonic if you been on the MC for less than 10 days...

Mon, March 21, 2005 - 6:37 PMwhat about bentonite clay for cleansing out the toxins instead of reasorbing them?

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 11:50 PMwhen you incorporate PB shakes (psyllium and bentonite) along with MC (master clenase) you are kicking up a notch by doing a cleanse called the UC (ultimate cleanse)
ive personally have never done PB shakes myself but read many threads on curezone of the tremendous health benefits in terms of flushing out the "ropes" in the guts...

Tue, March 22, 2005 - 12:09 AMis that ok to mix parasite cleanse with the pb shakes making it an UC?
or would the clay render the parasite killing toxins ineffective? -

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 12:19 AMthe most important thing is to carefully listen to the way your body re-acts... at the same time, not freaking out when you feel something is not going well...
preparing the mind for keen sense and finding courage is quite essential while doing the MC...
good luck to ya...

Re: Cleansing/colonics
Tue, March 22, 2005 - 2:00 PMYou don't really need to spend a ton of money on colonics and stuff. If you spend $5 on an enema bag, just do it yourself for essentially nothing. It's not quite as deep or thorough, but it'll do the trick for pennies on the dollar.
