Working & fasting

I have chronic gut problems. A 3-5 day juice fast has been an incredibly good thing to do for myself in the past. It's time. I'm ready.

However, I have a corporate 9-to-5 job. I am not sure how to deal with the intestinal loveliness and the toxic crises I know to expect from a fast while working full time in a "cozy" cube farm, showing up and sitting through meetings, and simply coping while so very very far away from the one (1) bathroom on my floor.

Anybody who's dealt with this or something similar have any advice, war stories, strategies for timing, or even funny anecdotes to share? Or should I just save it for when I can take the days off or telecommute?

    do you get a vacation?
i am just starting on this as far as inducing the practice on myself.
but i have been doing an immense amount of reading.

it seems easier to stick with it when theres no added stress.

i guess it would all depend on what type of fast you were doing and how well you know your body's reactions.

I've done 8 - 14 day juice fasts and I've always had my regular 9-5 corporate job while doing them. I've never had any problems. It's actually quite nice, because I can my breaks taking walks or reading instead of preparing or buying food, and I feel more motivated and alert.

I just make sure to make enough juice to last all day, and keep it in a container in the fridge at work. You do not want to run out before the end of the day.

If you're worried about unexpected rush visits to the washroom, I don't think you need to worry unless you've just taken a huge glass of psyllium or something very saline. So save anything that flushes your innards for times when you'll be home or free to rush off to a washroom quickly.

I've been fasting regularly for something like eight years, and I have always tried to make it part of my regular life. It's really easy to integrate juice fasting into a normal schedule if you have an office job.

The only thing I avoid is heavy physical exercise, and I agree with Violet that it's good to avoid particularly stressful times -- although you might be surprised how much easier daily "normal" stress is to deal with while you're fasting.

You have probably heard of the Master Cleanse. Most that do this fast do not have any problems working. I've done it, and I guess the only set back might be the bathroom situation. But I didn't think it was that bad. I even worked out, and running was exceptionally fun, I had so much energy.
