have any hypoglycemics here had success with a fast? i'm interested in detoxifying, but i'm a little scared of having a hypoglycemic episode as result.
i've done the master cleanse about a year ago with fine results, but before i was diagnosed hypoglycemic & had an episode.
thoughts & fasts recommended very helpful! ^_^

Re: Recommended fasts for hypoglycemics?
Wed, August 2, 2006 - 8:59 AMI am curious as well, being a hypoglycemic as well. I was debating using agave, which is what i use for a tea or baking sweetener now.. i wonder if it would sustain you the same as doing a honey or juice based fast. -

Re: Recommended fasts for hypoglycemics?
Tue, August 7, 2007 - 12:44 AMhow about some herbs? im not going to tell you which ones, because im not an herbalist and everyone is a bit different, but i know there are many. i also read once(healing with whole foods by paul pritchford) that superfoods like blue green algae, spirulina, and chlorella are a good choice for people fasting with blood sugar issues. also green juices would seem to be good. You can put leafy greens such as kale, parsley, etc..(or almost anything actually) in a blender with a bunch of water then strain and it works better than most juicers for greens.just blend and strain, and you can run 2 or 3 pitcher of water for a few leaves of greens.I believe that once you get past the funk, your body will be able to correct itself and you can potentially eliminate the hypoglycemia for good. Now im speaking in theory here because i too have blood sugar issues and i agree it can be rough. I think alot of it is in the mind though. THe only times i have been able to fast on water is when i had really good support to distract my mind from accepting that i didnt feel good. because an 'episode' , though physically it exists, is only an episode because we make it so. If our minds are strong enough to disassociate the physical discomfort from being so, it is no longer an episode, but a different state of being. it is our mind that decides we cannot handle it. Im not claiming to have mastered this myself and i totally feel for you, because i have been there, and am still there, but i have seen the other side as well. good luck!
