Re: Spring Cleaning!
Wed, March 2, 2005 - 8:29 AMpost cleansing regime
well they say a lot of cardio is good to keep up the loss of weight and the lean muscle mass that can come of this type of deep tissue cleansing. i really flaked on that the last time and can tell that it makes a big difference. you just have to make it a priority. food wise, i try to stay away from white refined sugars and flours, fried foods, caffeine, the stuff i tend to get addicted to rather quickly. i don't eat meat, but eat eggs and fish. i've decided to go down to eating fish every other week, so one week i can eat fish, the next week will be vegan, etc. this is new, but i'd been thinking about it awhile as my accupuncturist said i need to watch out for mercury levels...i bet mine are through the roof, cuz i love sushi. anyhow, i'll try to eat 70% raw food every day, and one cooked meal a day. i'll try to just do rice or pasta once a week, and then beans or lentils once a week. i might do that live blood cell analysis after a month or two after my fast to see if i might be missing something. i recently started taking a multi-vitamin again, although i'm almost sure i piss most of it away...i'm wondering if i'll notice any difference in my energy levels...any thoughts on multi-vitamins? i have these "food-based" ones...there's so many out there...of course during the master-cleanse part of my fast i will not be taking them...

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Fri, March 4, 2005 - 4:19 PMThere are many reasons I've been fasting 2-3 times a year for the last five years. I thought I'd share those reasons with you guys this time.
-to lose weight, and jumpstart a diet and fitness regime
-practice self-discipline, to set short term goals and meet them
-renewal, revitalization, rejuvenation, purification, realization, better concentration, to re-set the mind, body, and spirit
-to listen better to what my body is feeling/saying
-to share my experience and knowledge with others
-to be an inspiration for change
-a way of loving myself and taking care of physical maintenance as well as detoxification and prevention of potential future illness or disease
-to purge unhealthy thinking and habits
-to do something different, and yet something that is a timeless and honored tradition in many cultures and religions, creating my own personal ritual
-to increase wisdom of the process and to gain perspective and reiterate where I’m at now
-to remind myself to appreciate food as nourishment and to bless my body and to not take food for granted
-to surrender and let go of consequences and how my body might choose to cleanse and react to the fast
-to re-establish a balance and determine where my life needs changing
-to have an easier time at meditating in order to increase my conscious contact with my higher power -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Fri, March 4, 2005 - 4:25 PMSo I'm on Day five of Raw Vegan week. Don't seem to require as much sleep. Have a lot of energy. Recognizing I get full faster and less food seems to give me more energy. Getting a little sick of salads and sprouted lentils though. Will never tire of fruit, though. Been trying to juice in the mornings (well Wild Oats does it.) I switch from Green Juice with Spinach, Parsley, Celery, Cucumber, Lemon, Garlic, Ginger to one with Beets, Carrot, Celery, Spinach, Ginger, Lemon. Had a small headache today, but yanked something in yoga class doing wheel on Wed...saw the chiropractor yesterday. Drinking lots of herbal tea, mostly of the Yogi variety...lots of distilled water, too. Excited about the 12 days of juicing and the Master Cleanse...find it hard to explain much to anybody...thinking of just being a hermit and taking it easy...wish I didn't have to go to work. But it will be ok...

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Mon, March 7, 2005 - 9:36 AMSo today is day one of my 3 day Juice Fast. My tongue tastes like garlic from the green juice I had this morning. I went to a Raw Food potluck on Sat. night at the Living Lighthouse in Santa Monica. I had been eavesdropping at the Ceragem center 6 weeks ago and discovered it's existence. Wow. Hard Core, is all I have to say. I'm mainly 70% raw as it is...but there was this guy Don there that is like 70, and was going blind and reversed the process by going raw. Great food, some good souls, kinda wacky vibe...but I will go again when I'm on my raw week at the end of my cleanse. Anyhow, feel pretty good. Drinking lots of distilled water with lemon, lots of herbal Yogi tea (detox, echineacea, peppermint.) Going to take it easy for the next couple weeks...will try to do some light yoga and dancing and walking. I always get a little intimidated by what I'm doing. A little trepidation, but I know that this is natural and will pass. Feeling a lot. Trying to express it. Can't wait for my colonic tomorrow...I really need it. Stopped the Sonne's 7 & 9 (Bentonite/Psyllium combo.) It did wonders for me last week. Got out some really nasty stuff...had like 3-4 bowel movements a day...damn... -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Wed, March 9, 2005 - 2:53 PMSo today is day three of juicing only. The first couple days are the hardest. I feel like on edge a lot. I have energy, and then I don't. I find thoughts of food parading around in my head. The smell of food...mouth watering...puts me in a trance. My mind is pretty clear, except when I'm dreaming of my next solid food. It's all good...haven't blown up at anyone. My libido seems to have plummetted, it's interesting how primal instincts and human nature can reveal itself more when you do something different or drastic. It's funny, I'll drink some juice and half and hour later want more, but it's part psychological...reminds me how intricatly interwoven the mind and body are.
I had a colonic last night. It was intense pouring and release of toxins...so fast, I got pretty nauseous...but I've experienced that before. i followed up with wheat grass for the last fill and it literally kicked my ass and wiped me out. i was in agony for about 15-20 minutes...i've also experienced that before...not fun, but i know i'm so cleaned out that when the wheatgrass comes my body just sucks it up fast...and holds it in...uuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh...anyhow, i moaned a lot and breathed a lot and within half an hour i felt totally ok. i've had that happen a couple of times. the next two next week, i'm going to pass on the wheatgrass, and maybe just do a wheatgrass enema afterwards instead. it doesn't have as much an impact, but still beneficial, and less agonizing anyway...call me a whimp, it's ok. so tomorrow is day one of the master cleanse...again, i'm not sure about going the full 6 days, we'll see how i feel... -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Fri, March 11, 2005 - 11:54 AMSo, yesterday, first day of the Master Cleanse was hard. I heard the first three days are the hardest. I took a salt water internal bath this morning, even though i couldn't get to the store to get a laxative tea last night it was still good. I felt a lot better, and feel high energy today, and less hungry. Yesterday i was on the edge of hunger almost constantly...i'm sure i had a very erratic energy field. Anyhow, i plan to go out dancing tonight at Boardners...not sure how bold that will be, but I'll bring along my lemonade mixtures to tide me over...about one an hour or so is what I've been doing all day yesterday...12 in all...today I think i'll be able to space them out a little more, like an hour and a half or something. i'm taking a half day at work, cuz i have a dear friend flying in from SF. so i get to get a little vitamin d and maybe a yoga class in :) -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Sat, March 12, 2005 - 10:56 PMtry straining out the lemon pulp... it will prevent the acids to form in the stomach which causes the hunger pangs...
if anything, congratulations on your ongoing cleansing~~~

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Sun, March 13, 2005 - 6:24 PMThanks...I currently do strain out the pulp...my friend tells me that I'm being too "hard core" by doing one tablespoon of maple syrup instead of the suggested two...he says that's why I'm so spaced out. So, today (Day 4) I've been trying to stick to the recipe...I was trying to do the "reducing" one...but I'm probably being too active to do that. I got stomach cramps late last night from the senna "Smooth Move" tea...ugh...it was like 3:50am...I couldn't go back to sleep so I did the salt water flush and felt better and was able to go back to sleep...needed a nap today though. I was having acute cravings for Keebler's Baked Potato skins last night, and I haven't had them since I was 17 or 18 and used to down a whole bag in bed reading a book. My friend said I'm probably just now releasing that and that's why I'm craving it (haha.) I could practically taste them in my mouth! I've also been really looking forward to raw food. I think I would like to try to do a couple raw days a week after the cleansing...I'm not ready to go completely raw vegan...I still love fish and sushi...but I've decided to get tested for mercury, as my colonic lady says she has a mercury and fish fluke cleanse, I think I might do that in a couple months, too...not everything at once though...just working on today...today has been easier...yesterday I felt almost like I was in a constant state of low-level shock. I heard that's just the hump you have to get over before you can let go completely and surrender...I think I'm almost there...I only have two days left. I was maybe mentioning my suspician I"m allergic to fresh orange juice and that I've broken out in hives the last couple of times...I was re-reading my "Eat Right For Your Blood Type" book and it says to totally avoid Oranges and orange juice that it's not good for type O blood. Wow...so that makes sense, but I'll not be able to come off the Master Cleanse with OJ as suggested...The book says that Pineapple juice is highly beneficial, so I'm thinking of doing that instead...anyhow, that's it for today :D Oh, yeah, my friend Darryn, told me I was glowing today, and that I should take some pictures while I'm on this cleanse...need to find someone with a digital camera....wheeeee! -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Mon, March 14, 2005 - 7:06 PMGo Tiffany!! That is so awesome! I give you kudos for doing this. It isn't easy.
I had many of the same odd experiences you were mentioning. I also would get really strong odd food cravings from my past.
And the 4am stomach cramp sessions. (ugh.)
I also reduced my mayple syrup intake for a few days, and I really felt a strong difference. The maple syrup is where you get all your energy to get through this fast and if you aren't getting enough, you'll really feel it. Add the usual amount and see if you notice a difference.
Keep up the great work!!! -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Tue, March 15, 2005 - 10:40 AMThanks for the words of encouragement! Today is the last day, and tomorrow I'm breaking my fast with fresh grapefruit juice with pulp, and then some fresh pineapple juice. Then some veggie juice later on. My tongue is very metal tasting and fuzzy and I feel like my breath is pretty rank. I am sleeping fine through the night. I am not feeling hungry. I have for the most part adjusted to 2 tablespoons maple syrup and have noticed a huge difference in the way I feel (NORMAL :) I get colonic #2 tonight. I am asking my friend Petey why I shouldn't do more than 6 days on the master cleanse...I will post his simple explanation when he writes me. I know it says 10 days min. I also know it says you can "safely" do it for 40 days...but I think it's differnet if you're really really sick. I did it for 7 days last time...intended on doing the full 10 days this time...but I want to be eating by the full moon, cuz I plan to go dance my ass off in the desert...so this 6 days fit in the whole time frame of things. -

Re: Spring Cleaning!
Tue, March 15, 2005 - 1:54 PMSo this is strait from the guy who told me, personally, not to go beyond six days on the master cleanse...take it all with a grain of salt, and I will too :) this philosophy just made sense to me, and how i felt beyond day six the one time i did it before...lots of people have done the full ten days and had no problem...
____________________________________________________
it's because at that point you begion to do some real stripping away of stuff and it may begin a process that you need to stay involved in. it may become problematic when you begin to eat again and that can be dangerouse especially if you go back to pizza and french fries ;-)
if you stay under six days you are simply giving your organs a vacation from the complex process of digestion but not beginning to strip away anything. sometimes it's the rust that is holding the pipes together. do you see what i mean by that? -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Spring Cleaning!
Mon, March 21, 2005 - 3:09 PMSo I came off the 6 days of the lemonade part of my cleanse and did citrus juices (pineapple and grapefruit) in the morning and then vegetable juice for 24 hours. The first fruit I had was magnificent and the first salad made me so happy to eat. I savored it sooooo much. Last Friday was my first whole day of solid food and it's funny my jaw was sore from chewing so much...it had been out of use! I danced for 3 hours on Friday at a fundraiser for Fumbling Towards Ecstacy. I had amazing energy. Saturday I again went to the Raw food potluck and made these tomatos stuffed with a jalepeno cashew cheese that was a big hit. I went to a birthday party and danced some more. I've been on raw foods and am feeling pretty good, although I think I lost out on some sleep since I had to get up early on Sunday and need to catch up a little. I will be on Raw foods until next Saturday. I will be going to a full moon party and will again hopefully have a lot of energy and endurance in me from doing this cleanse. I am hoping that cooked food isn't a total let down after all this great raw food. I am not ready to go totally raw and have met people that can no longer eat cooked food after going raw and I don't feel ready, so I will try to stay 70% raw for now. Anyhow, I feel good, I have some ow-ies from banging up my toe, my right knuckle and my lip...they seem to be slow at healing a little...but I hope that changes soon. I'm going to start back with the multi-vitamin and put vitamin e oil on them. I'm wondering how my moon cycle will be affected from all this fasting. Sometimes it makes me skip my period or be a week or two late...anyhow...more than how I feel is how I feel mentally for having been able to stick with my plan...yay! -
