I'm on my fifth day of the Master Cleanse (2nd time doing it) and I just got my period.
Is there a way to continue safely, or should I break the cleanse and try another time?
Anyone have any personal experince with this?
I'm also getting my usual cramps and really struggling with not being able to take some ibuprofen.

Re: fasting and menstruation
Mon, March 19, 2007 - 9:22 AMthe thought of adding spirulina comes to mind. It might help with the cramps. There are components which assist the body in reducing inflammation as well as cleansing liver and blood. High in chlorophyll, vitamin A, protein, iron, and EFAs. It is a superfood and should be able to work well with the master cleanser. Even if just for a few days. Mix it directly into the formula and drink throughout the day. Fasting and taking meds can be dangerous. If spirulina is out of the question (it tastes funny and adding to the master cleanse formula might be an issue for you), eat ligh and gradually come out of the fast and then do what you got to do (ie ibuprofen). If you would rather keep going with the cleanse, minus the spirulina and drugs, but are open to some tea, cramp bark, red clover and black cohosh.
Peace
